The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) is seeking feedback on its Discussion Paper on domestic waste management charges levied by local councils. IPART has found that there is a wide variation in charges, and in some cases these may not be delivering good value for ratepayers. IPART also found that there may be challenges for local councils in purchasing and pricing waste management services. Previously IPART had decided not to regulate waste charges, but now is considering whether this is the right approach going forward.
NetWaste has submitted its own regional submission which can be downloaded HERE regarding the proposed charges, and how it may affect regional domestic waste management charging in the future.
