Household Chemical Cleanout
The Household Chemical Cleanout is a joint initiative between NetWaste, participating Councils and the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA). The purpose of the program is to recover hazardous chemical waste from households and the environment, including cleaning agents, paints, batteries, fire extinguishers, gas bottles and pesticides.
NetWaste coordinates an annual service across the region where residents can typically dispose of their unwanted items free of charge (for up to 20kg) on a specific day. While this means a service is not offered continuously, it is the most cost effective way of ensuring a suitable opportunity exists to dispose of these items properly.
Since the program has been coordinated on a regular annual basis, over 40 tonnes of material has been collected.
